A personal experience with organ donation has given Miss Mississippi Mary Margaret Hyer the inspiration to make the gift of life her platform as she prepares for the Miss America competition. Hyer visited with the transplant team and chatted with patients awaiting a transplant or who received an abdominal organ during an Aug. 8 visit to UMMC.
